The Bentley Continental GT is an all-wheel drive luxury car of the Gran Turismo class, announced in several body styles: a two-door coupe and a convertible with a convertible cloth top ... It boasts a "thoroughbred" appearance, high-class interior decoration, powerful technical components and rich equipment ...

The world premiere of a closed two-door of the second generation took place in the fall of 2010 - at the International Paris Motor Show, and exactly a year later (but already at the Frankfurt Motor Show) an open model called "Convertible" debuted.

Compared to its predecessor, the car has retained its recognizable appearance, but at the same time it has become more modern, more productive, more technological and a little larger.

In March 2015, at a car show in Geneva, the British showed a restyled Continental GT, to which the exterior was tweaked (new bumpers, a radiator grill and rims), the interior was slightly modified (a different steering wheel and new trim options), increased the engine output and added previously unavailable options ...

In this form, the car existed until 2017, after giving way to the successor on the conveyor belt.

Outside, the Bentley Continental GT can hardly be called a handsome man, but on the whole it looks attractive, noble and monumental - an arrogant front end with four round headlights, a solid radiator grille and a raised bumper, a majestic silhouette with expressive sides, muscular "hips" and huge wheel arches, exquisite stern with scarlet lights and "curvy" bumper.

The overall length of the two-door is 4806 mm, and its width and height are 1944 mm and 1404 mm, respectively. Between the front and rear axles, the car "fits" a 2476-mm wheelbase, and under the bottom it has a 140-mm ground clearance.

The curb weight of the "Briton" varies from 2280 to 2470 kg (depending on the version).

Inside, the “second” Bentley Continental GT looks beautiful, presentable and expensive, but does not impress with the provocative visual richness (as you would expect) - a weighty multi-steering wheel with a fancy lower spoke, a laconic but solid “instrumentation” with analog instruments and a small color display, noble center console with stylish analogue clock, media center screen and exemplary climate control panel.

The decoration of the car "flaunts" exclusively premium materials - high-quality leather, aluminum, wood and so on.

The car's interior has a strictly four-seater layout - on the second row there are two separate seats with a relief profile. In the front part, there are ergonomic chairs with developed lateral support, integrated headrests, hard filling and all the "blessings of civilization" (heating, massager, ventilation, etc.).

The trunk of the two-door is not large, but it is quite convenient: in the coupe it can accommodate 358 liters of luggage, and in the convertible - 260 liters. In an underground niche near the car, a small spare wheel and tools are hidden, neatly arranged in an organizer.

For the Bentley Continental GT of the second incarnation, two petrol engines are offered, which are combined exclusively with an 8-band "automatic" ZF and an all-wheel drive transmission with an asymmetric center differential Torsen (in normal conditions it divides the thrust between the axles in the ratio "40:60" in favor of the rear ):

  • The "younger" version is a 4.0-liter V-shaped eight-cylinder unit with two turbochargers in the collapse of the block, direct fuel injection, a variable valve timing mechanism, a 32-valve timing and a four-cylinder deactivation system at low loads, available in two versions:
    • on the GT V8 it produces 507 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 660 Nm of torque at 1700 rpm;
    • and on GT V8 S - 528 hp at 6000 rpm and 680 Nm at 1700 rpm.
  • "Senior" - a 6.0-liter W12 engine with a pair of turbochargers, a direct "power supply" system, 48 valves, phase shifters at the inlet and outlet and a technology for shutting off half of the "pots", provided in three power levels:
    • on the GT W12 - 590 hp at 6000 rpm and 720 Nm of peak thrust at 1700 rpm;
    • on the GT Speed - 635 hp at 6000 rpm and 820 Nm of rotational potential at 2000 rpm;
    • on the Supersports - 710 hp at 5900 rpm and 1017 Nm at 2050-4500 rpm.

The maximum two-door accelerates to 301-336 km / h, leaving the first “hundred” behind on the speedometer after 3.5-5 seconds.

In a combined driving cycle, such a car consumes 10.5 ~ 15.9 liters of fuel for every 100 km of run.

The Bentley Continental GT of the second generation is based on the Volkswagen D1 platform, which is distinguished by a longitudinal arrangement of the engine and a body in which high-strength types of steel and aluminum are combined. Both axles of the car are equipped with independent suspensions with adaptive shock absorbers, pneumatic elements and transverse stabilizers: front - double wishbone, rear - multi-link.

The machine is equipped with an electric power assisted rack and pinion steering mechanism and a variable gear ratio. All two-door wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes with ABS, EBD and other features.

In the Russian market, the second generation Bentley Continental GT coupe in 2018 is still sold at a price of 12.7 million rubles, and for a convertible you will have to pay at least 14 million rubles.

In the "base" the car has: six airbags, 20-inch wheels, full LED optics, front seats with electric drive, ventilation and heating, media center, premium audio system with 8 speakers, leather interior trim, electronic "handbrake", zone climate -control, ABS, ESP, front and rear parking sensors, electric boot lid and much more.
