At the Geneva Motor Show, which opened its doors in March 2016, the world premiere of the updated Opel Mokka subcompact crossover with the "X" prefix was officially held (however, the Germans "could not stand it until spring" and preliminarily talked about their new product in early February).

The "upgrade" definitely benefited the car - the exterior and interior have improved in accordance with the modern style of the brand, a new turbo engine has been "registered" under the hood, and the list of equipment has been replenished with high-tech gadgets.

The restyled "Mokka" looks more aggressive and more elegant than its predecessor, and all because of the "redrawn" front end - the crossover flaunts the "predatory look" of LED headlights with "boomerangs" of running lights (though in the basic versions the optics are simpler) and the branded trapezoid of the radiator grille. In profile, the car has not undergone any changes, but its stern got new LED lights and a redrawn bumper, which added a little solidity to it.

The overall dimensions of the updated Opel Mokka have not undergone changes: 4278 mm in length, of which 2555 mm is the gap between the axles, 1658 mm in height and 1774 mm in width (including external mirrors - 2038 mm).

The interior of the Opel Mokka X has been transformed beyond recognition - the central console is made in a minimalist style, and the control of most functions is "crammed" into the 7- or 8-inch (depending on the configuration) touchscreen of the IntelliLink multimedia center, although a separate nice block is responsible for the "microclimate" ... New here are a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a modern instrument panel with analog dials and a color display of the trip computer.

But the restyled Mokka remained as hospitable to the driver and passengers as its predecessor: in front there are comfortable seats with an optimal profile and wide adjustment ranges, in the back there is a comfortable sofa with a sufficient supply of free space.

The volume of the luggage compartment of the Opel Mokka X varies from 356 to 1372 liters, depending on the position of the backs of the rear sofa, and in the underground "hold" there is a compact "spare wheel" and a set of tools.

Specifications. The motor range of the modernized "Mokki" includes:

  • Petrol four-cylinder turbocharged engine with direct injection of 1.4 liters, producing 152 horsepower at 5600 rpm and 245 Nm of peak thrust at 2000-3500 rpm.
  • And also a turbocharged diesel "four" for 1.6 liters, available in two levels of boost - 110 "horses" at 4000 rpm and 300 Nm at 2000-2250 rpm, or 136 forces at 3500-4000 rpm and 320 Nm at 2000 rpm.

In combination with the engines, a 6-speed "automatic" or "mechanics", front-wheel drive or an adaptive all-wheel drive transmission with an interaxle electromagnetic clutch, dividing the moment in proportions from 100: 0 to 50:50, work.

In technical aspects, the Opel Mokka X repeats its predecessor - it is based on the GM Gamma II platform with independent MacPherson struts at the front and a semi-independent scheme with a U-shaped twisted beam at the rear.
The steering system on a rack and pinion car with a built-in electric booster, and disc brakes on four wheels (ventilated at the front) with ABS, Brake Assist, EBD and other "gadgets".

Options and prices. The restyled Mokka X will not reach our country in the near future, since the German brand left the Russian market, but in Europe sales of the crossover began in the fall of 2016 (at a price of ~ 19 thousand euros, which is about 1 million 250 thousand. rubles at the rate).
The functionality of the car has been replenished with a number of advanced technologies - LED head lighting, the IntelliLink multimedia complex, assistance systems when driving in heavy traffic, warning about the distance to the car in front, tracking the markings and many others.
