At the Gaikindo International Auto Show in mid-August 2015 in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, Honda officially unveiled a concept compact crossover named BR-V (the abbreviation stands for Bold Runabout Vehicle). In December of the same year, at the Thailand Auto Show, a commercial version of the car was exhibited to the public, which practically did not differ from the pre-production prototype, which entered the markets of Southeast Asia at the end of January 2016.

The exterior of the Honda BR-V is designed in accordance with the current design concept of the Japanese brand, which makes the car look stylish and very brutal. The compact, but fairly embossed body of the crossover is decorated with modern optics with LED sections, a protective plastic body kit and a "broken" sill line, and rests on the road with wheels with 16-inch disks.

The total length of the five-door car is 4453-4456 mm (depending on the number of seats), height - 1666 mm, width - 1735 mm. The wheelbase of the SUV is 2655 mm, and under its "belly" you can see 201 mm ground clearance. When equipped, the "Japanese" weighs from 1206 to 1241 kg.

The interior of the Honda BR-V is attractive and modern in appearance - a three-spoke steering wheel, a laconic and informative instrument panel and an asymmetric console in the center of the front panel with a 6.1-inch TV multimedia installation and an original climate unit with an individual scoreboard.

As a standard, the SUV interior has a five-seater layout with several amorphous front seats and a full-fledged rear sofa, and for an additional charge it is equipped with a third row of seats, which is suitable only for child passengers.

With five riders "on board" in the arsenal of the "Japanese" there is a spacious luggage compartment (only its volume is unknown), and with seven - there is practically no space for luggage.

Specifications. The Honda BR-V is equipped with a single gasoline engine - an in-line four-cylinder "aspirated" i-VTEC with a volume of 1.5 liters (1497 cubic centimeters), which has a distributed power system and a 16-valve timing chain drive, the capacity of which is 117 horsepower at 6000 rpm / minute and 146 Nm of limiting torque at 4700 rpm.
"Four", meeting Euro-4 standards, is combined with a 6-speed "mechanics" or continuously variable transmission CVT, which transmit the flow of power to the wheels of the front axle (all-wheel drive transmission for the crossover is not provided). How fast and economical the car is - the Japanese company has not yet disclosed.

The base for the Honda BR-V is a front-wheel drive bogie borrowed from the Mobilio compact van. The SUV has independent suspension with McPherson struts at the front and a semi-independent structure with an H-shaped torsion bar at the rear. The car is controlled by a rack and pinion steering mechanism with an integrated electric power amplifier. The front wheels of the five-door are equipped with ventilated 262 mm brake discs, and the rear wheels are equipped with drum devices.

Options and prices. At the end of January 2016, the Honda BR-V went on sale in Southeast Asia. In Thailand, the car is sold at a price of 750 thousand baht for a five-seater modification, and an SUV with a seven-seater saloon costs 70 thousand baht more.
In the basic configuration, the "Japanese" is equipped with two airbags, a stabilization system, ABS, a help function when starting to climb, a multimedia complex with a 6.1-inch screen, a rear-view camera, power windows, a climate system and 16-inch wheel disks.
