Renault Talisman is a front-wheel-drive mid-size sedan (aka "D-class" by European standards), which combines elegant design, modern and spacious interior, as well as moderately productive technology ... Its main target audience is middle-aged and older men with a good level of income, who want to get a large, safe, comfortable and well-equipped car for relatively affordable money ...

The French automaker Renault has long intrigued the public with details about its new D-class sedan called "Talisman", and on July 6, 2015, it finally held a private show of the novelty, after which details about it reached the World Wide Web. The public debut of the car took place in the autumn of the same year - at the international exhibition in Frankfurt, shortly after which it went on sale in European markets ...

At the end of February 2020, the French presented a restyled four-door to the court of the world community, but insignificant metamorphoses happened to it - the car barely noticeably "refreshed" the exterior, improved the interior decoration and separated new (not previously available) options, leaving the technical "stuffing" unchanged (and this is not surprising, since the sedan's engine range was "shaken up" back in 2018 as part of the transition to the Euro 6d economy).

The Talisman sedan looks beautiful, fresh and impressive, its design contains a lot of interesting design solutions, but the most striking detail in the exterior of the three-volume can be considered the lighting technology: full-LED headlights with C-shaped brackets for running lights and elongated "clips" of the taillights ...

But the "plastic" of the body itself is very conservative and does not emit much expression, however, it is made in the style of the latest models of the brand. In general, the car has a strict and harmonious appearance inherent in representatives of the D-class, which is emphasized by beautiful wheel rims with a diameter of 16 to 19 inches.

According to its external dimensions of the body, Renault Talisman qualifies as a mid-size sedan: length - 4850 mm, width - 1870 mm, height - 1460 mm. The distance between the axles of the "Frenchman" is 2810 mm of the total length.

Interior

The interior design of Renault Talisman combines stylish design, comfort and new technologies. Basic information is provided to the driver by a modern instrument cluster with a floating color display, and a small multifunctional steering wheel "falls" in his hands, sportingly truncated in the lower part.

The center console looks solid and fashionable, and is crowned with a color "tablet" of the multimedia complex "R-Link 2" measuring 4.2 or 8.7 inches, depending on the version, under which there is a pair of "washers" and several buttons for the air conditioner.

The interior decoration of a mid-size sedan, as befits a car of this class, is made of high quality materials and is distinguished by a meticulous level of workmanship.

The main bet in the French is made on the interior space, in which the three-volume car occupies one of the leading positions in the D-class. The front seats have an anatomical profile with developed support on the sides and large ranges of settings, and in the "older" versions there is also massage, heating, electric adjustments and memory for six options.

The rear sofa is no less comfortable: the distance from the pillow to the ceiling is 855 mm, and the headroom in front of the knees is 262 mm.

The luggage transportation needs are more than covered by a spacious "hold" with a volume of 608 liters in the stowed state, the capacity of which can be increased by transforming the back of the "gallery" in a ratio of 60:40.

Specifications

A wide range of power options are available for the French "Talisman":

  • The petrol range includes four-cylinder TCe units with turbocharging, a direct feed system, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, namely:
    • 1.3-liter engine, developing 160 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 270 Nm of torque at 1800 rpm;
    • engine with a working volume of 1.8 liters, which produces 225 hp. at 5500 rpm and 300 Nm of peak thrust at 2000 rpm.
  • The diesel palette includes dCi turbo diesels with a volume of 1.7 and 2.0 liters with accumulator fuel injection and a 16-valve timing belt, each of which is declared in two power levels:
    • the return of the first is 120 hp. at 350 rpm and 300 Nm at 1750 rpm, or 150 hp at 3500 rpm and 340 Nm at 1750 rpm;
    • and the second - 160 hp. at 3750 rpm and 360 Nm at 1500 rpm, or 200 hp. at 3500 rpm and 400 Nm at 1500 rpm.

Gasoline engines are combined with a 7-range "robot", the base diesel unit relies only on a 6-speed "mechanics", and its 2.0-liter "brother" - an exclusively 6-speed preselective gearbox.

Speed, dynamics and consumption

From a place to the first "hundred" four-door accelerates after 7.4-11.9 seconds, and the maximum gains 191-240 km / h.

Gasoline versions of the car “digest” on average from 5.6 to 7.2 liters of fuel for every 100 km of run in combined mode, and diesel - from 4.6 to 4.9 liters.

Design features

The Talisman sedan is based on the CMF (Common Module Family) modular architecture, or to be more precise, its simplified version.

The tricycle has an independent suspension with MacPherson struts at the front and a semi-independent configuration with a torsion beam at the rear.

As an option, electronically controlled shock absorbers and a fully controlled 4Control chassis with actuators in the rear axle are available for the car, if necessary, deflecting the wheels.

By default, the "Frenchman" is equipped with rack and pinion steering with electric power and disc brakes on each of the four wheels, complemented by modern assistants.

Options and prices

In the European market, sales of the restyled Renault Talisman will begin in June 2020, but in the meantime there (or to be more precise, in France) a "pre-reform" sedan is offered at a price of 32,500 euros (≈2.4 million rubles).

By default, the car is equipped with: front and side airbags, dual-zone "climate", 17-inch alloy wheels, ABS, EBD, ESP, front and rear parking sensors, a media center with a 7-inch screen, power windows for all doors, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, as well as other modern equipment.
