In April 2014, the production version of the BMW M4 Cabrio sports convertible was presented to the general public for the first time at the New York Auto Show.

Previously, "compact" sports convertibles were part of the BMW M3 line, but recently cars of this series in a coupe body have emerged into an independent line of BMW M4 - accordingly, the open version created on their basis has also changed its "registration".

In January 2017, the two-door (along with the "brothers" in the "fourth family") was slightly updated - it received optics with a new LED "filling" (already as basic equipment), new trim materials in the cabin and a slightly reconfigured suspension.

The exterior of the German convertible is based on the exterior of the BMW M4 coupe. This can be seen even in the structure of the folding roof, which is not soft, but hard. The convertible top of the car is assembled from three parts, which are neatly folded into the trunk in just 20 seconds, and this can be done even in motion, but at speeds not exceeding 18 km / h.

In terms of dimensions, the convertible is the closest relative of the BMW M4 coupe: the length of the new item is 4671 mm, the width is within 1870 mm, and the height does not exceed 1386 mm. The wheelbase of the car is 2812 mm.

The interior design of the BMW M4 Cabrio is also similar to the compartment. Of the original "chips" of the convertible, one can single out only the presence of a three-stage system of blowing warm air to the front riders when driving with an open top.

It is impossible to pass by the trunk of an open two-door: when the roof is retracted, its useful volume is only 220 liters, but if you spread the roof over your head, then 370 liters of luggage will enter the cargo compartment.

The engine for the sports convertible is borrowed from the BMW M4 Coupé - it is a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder unit with twin turbocharging, direct fuel injection, throttle-free mixing and phase shifters on the intake and exhaust.
It generates 431 horsepower at 5500-7300 rpm as standard and 550 Nm of peak torque at 1850-5500 rpm, and with the optional Competition package, 450 hp. at 7000 rpm.

The list of available gearboxes is also similar to the coupe of the same name: a basic 6-speed Getrag "mechanics" and an optional 7-band "robot" with a dual clutch (in the "base" - with driving rear wheels and a self-locking electromechanical differential).

From a standstill to 100 km / h, the open version of the "emka" breaks down after 4.3-4.6 seconds, and accelerates to a maximum of 250 km / h (as an option, the electronic "collar" can be raised to 280 km / h).

In combined conditions, the two-door "destroys" from 8.7 to 9.1 liters of fuel for each "hundred", depending on the modification.

The BMW M4 Convertible (F83) is built on the platform of the BMW M3 (F80) sedan, but with suspension settings close to the BMW M4 coupe. There are MacPherson struts in the front, and an independent multi-link in the back.
All wheels use disc brakes with 4-piston calipers at the front and 2-piston calipers at the rear. If desired, they can be replaced with sports composite brakes with 6-piston calipers.
The steering gear of the convertible is complemented by an electromechanical amplifier with three operating modes, of which two are sporty: "Sport" and "Sport +".

On the Russian market, the BMW M4 convertible is not officially sold, but at home (in Germany) it is available at a price of 84,500 euros (~ 5.9 million rubles at the current exchange rate). In terms of standard and optional equipment, it does not differ much from the coupe of the same name.
