The five-door "Niva" VAZ 2131 entered the assembly line in 1993 and is still on it. However, as in the case of the three-door modification, the long-wheelbase Lada 4 × 4 is not very popular, which is why it is produced in small batches.

In terms of appearance, the "Niva" with five doors differs from the usual Lada 4 × 4 only in details.

These are two additional rear doors and a large wheelbase. The SUV looks very individual, and now it is almost impossible to meet another car with a similar design. In general, the classic exterior can be called one of the advantages of the model.

The length of the VAZ 2131 is 4220 mm, and the wheelbase is 2700 mm. In other respects, it is on par with the three-door car. In running order, the vehicle weighs 1350 kg, and its gross weight with passengers and cargo should not exceed 1850 kg.

The interior of the five-door "Niva" completely repeats the design of the interior of the three-door. It's all the same simplicity with a minimum number of controls and buttons, cheap finishing materials and not very high-quality assembly. The most modern interior detail can be considered the dashboard, which migrated to Lada 4 × 4 from Samara-2. No air conditioner, no power windows, no regular "music" on a five-door SUV you will not find.

The main advantage of the long-wheelbase Lada 4 × 4 is its spacious cabin, designed to accommodate five passengers. The front seats are able to accommodate people of almost any body size with sufficient comfort, however, the seat adjustment ranges are not enough, as well as the ability to adjust the steering position. But on the back sofa, three adult passengers will be able to sit down, while there will be enough space in all directions.

In the arsenal of the five-door "Niva" there is a 420-liter cargo compartment, the volume of which can be increased to 780 liters by folding the rear seat. The flat floor and wide opening facilitate the transportation of bulky luggage. The spare wheel is located under the hood, adjacent to the engine, so it does not eat up useful space.

For the long-wheelbase Lada 4 × 4, the same 1.7-liter engine is available, producing 83 horsepower as the standard car. The indicators of recoil, dynamics and speed are also similar here. However, the five-door is somewhat more voracious - in the combined mode, it consumes 12 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers, and in the city mode - 14 liters.

The gearbox, all-wheel drive transmission, suspension design and braking system are exactly the same as on the three-door "Niva". True, due to the lengthened wheelbase, the off-road capabilities of the five-door version are noticeably worse.

In the Russian market for Lada 4 × 4 with five doors in 2014 they ask for 400,000 rubles. The car is offered in one configuration, which includes power steering, folding rear sofa, fabric interior, standard immobilizer, 16-inch alloy wheels and metallic paintwork.
