The second generation of the "charged" Honda Civic hatchback with the "Type R" nameplate debuted in 2001. Two years later, the car underwent a small update, after which it was produced until 2007, when it was replaced by a new, third generation model. The production of such a "Civic" was carried out at the English plant in Swindon.

The second generation Honda Civic Type R is a sports version of the Honda Civic. The car was presented in a single body version - a three-door hatchback.

The length of the "charged" vehicle is 4140 mm, width - 1695 mm, height - 1425 mm, distance between axles - 2575 mm, ground clearance - 130 mm. In running order, Type R is equal to 1195 kg with a gross weight of 1550 kg. The hatchback has a 315-liter luggage compartment, which can be expanded to 610 liters by folding the rear seat backrest.

For the second generation Honda Civic Type R, a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine was offered, delivering 200 horsepower at 7400 rpm and 196 Nm of torque at 5900 rpm. The engine, equipped with an intelligent DOHC i-VTEC gas distribution system, worked in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission, which transmits traction to the front axle. It is worth noting that in the Japanese market, the car was equipped with a 215-horsepower unit (202 Nm). Acceleration to the first hundred in the three-door hatchback took 6.6 seconds at a peak speed of 235 km / h. The average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle was 8.9 liters.

The second generation Honda Civic Type R used independent spring suspension at the front and rear. Ventilated disc brakes were installed on the front wheels, disc brakes on the rear.

The advantages of the "second" Type R include a stylish and sporty appearance, a powerful engine, good dynamic characteristics, refined handling and overall structural reliability. Disadvantages - conditional, tk. they are typical of sports cars: modest ground clearance, stiff suspension, not too spacious second row of seats.
