The official premiere of the VIP version of the sixth generation Toyota Hiace, but under the name GranAce (this is how the car is called in its native Japanese market), took place in October 2019 at the Tokyo International Motor Show, while even earlier - in August - it was demonstrated as Majesty in Thailand.
The car, which has occupied a niche in the Toyota hierarchy between the usual Hiace and the premium monocab Alphard, not only received a seriously shortened "bogie", but also distinguished itself from the "standard" model by a more solid design, rich interior decoration, a wide range of modern options and some technical points ( and also - you can drive it with a driver's license of "passenger" category "B").
Externally, the "sixth" Toyota Hiace VIP can boast of a very presentable, nice and proportional appearance. The front of the minivan is decorated with slanting headlights with full LED "filling", a large chrome "shield" of the radiator grille and a raised bumper, and its stern shows an impressive fifth door, huge L-shaped lights connected by a chrome V-bridge, and a neat bumper ...
On the side, the car has a silhouette characteristic of its class with a short hood, a straight roofline and a large glass area, which is enhanced by embossed "folds" on the sidewalls and large stripes of wheel arches accommodating 17-inch wheels.

The overall length of the VIP-version of the Toyota Hiace of the sixth incarnation extends to 5300 mm, and its width and height fit into 1970 mm and 1990 mm, respectively. The minivan has a wheelbase of 3210 mm, and its ground clearance is 175 mm.
When equipped, the vehicle weighs at least 2,685 kg, while its gross weight is 3,500 kg.
Interior
The interior space of the sixth generation Hayes looks attractive, modern and quite solid - a large multifunctional steering wheel with a four-spoke rim and embossed tides, a laconic instrument cluster with two dial gauges and a color 4.2-inch board computer display between them, a stylish center console, which is crowned with 7- inch touchscreen infotainment system, stylish "microclimate" and gearbox selector.
In the car interior, exceptionally solid finishing materials are used - high-quality plastics, glossy decor, artificial leather with stitching (not only on the seats, but also on the front panel).
The salon of Toyota Hiace VIP is of superior comfort, four-row, with “captain's” chairs with individual adjustments and folding armrests used on the second and third rows, while a full-fledged three-seater sofa is installed on the fourth row. The front riders are given ergonomic seats with a distinct side profile, a wide range of settings (including height) and a moderately soft padding.
In addition to nine people, the minivan can also take on board 844 liters of luggage, and its luggage compartment "flaunts" not only a convenient shape, but also a small loading height and a huge opening. In addition to this, the fourth row slides forward / backward to increase cargo space.

For the "sixth" Toyota Hiace VIP, one diesel engine is offered - this is an in-line "four" with a working volume of 2.8 liters of the 1GD series with a turbocharger (having an adjustable nozzle apparatus), a common rail direct "feed" system and a 16-valve timing structure, the potential of which is 150 horsepower at 3600 rpm and 420 Nm of torque at 1600-2200 rpm.
By default, the car is equipped with a 6-band hydromechanical "automatic" and rear-wheel drive transmission, equipped with an electronic imitation of the interwheel differential lock.
Design features
The sixth "release" of the Toyota Hiace in the VIP version is based on a platform created according to the principles of the "light" modular "bogie" TNGA, and has a longitudinally located engine and body, largely made of high-strength steel grades.
On the front axle of the minivan there is an independent suspension with MacPherson struts and anti-roll bars, and on the rear axle there is a dependent architecture with steel springs and telescopic shock absorbers.
The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering system and hydraulic power steering, and ventilated disc brakes are applied on all its wheels, supplemented by ABS, EBD and BAS.

In Russia, Toyota Hiace VIP 2020 model year can be purchased in two trim levels to choose from - Elegance and Prestige Safety.
