The official premiere of the serial crossover took place in April 2016 - on the catwalks of the Beijing International Auto Show, and its sales in the Chinese market started in October of the same year.
Although outside and inside, this five-door almost literally copied the premium crossover from Stuttgart, but technically it did not even get close to it.
Externally, the Zotye SR9 looks beautiful, balanced, dynamic and "thoroughbred", but there is one "big but" - its exterior copies that of the Porsche Macan by 85%.
An energetic front end with drop-shaped headlights and a large "mouth" of the radiator grille, a sporty fit silhouette with a dropping roof and impressive wheel arches, strong stern with graceful lanterns, a small diffuser and a quartet of exhaust pipes - from afar, the car simply cannot be distinguished from a "German donor".
This is a compact SUV, but "overgrown" in its segment: it is 4744 mm long, 1929 mm wide, and 1647 mm high. The distance between the front and rear pairs of wheels is 2850 mm at the five-door, and its ground clearance is 161 mm.
In the "combat" state, the mass of the vehicle ranges from 1665 to 1685 kg (depending on the modification).
Inside, the Zotye SR9 even more resembles a Makan (or, to be more precise, by 95%), which is why it boasts an elegant and advanced look.
A three-spoke multi-steering wheel with a raised rim, a virtual instrument cluster and an impressive center console with a 9-inch display of the multimedia complex and a scattering of auxiliary keys - the interior evokes extremely positive emotions (of course, with the exception of the obvious resemblance to a German SUV).
On top of that, the car is distinguished by well-thought-out ergonomics and a solid level of performance.
Salon Zotye SR9 has a five-seat layout. In the front part there are comfortable chairs with unobtrusive side bolsters, heating and a wide range of adjustments. On the second row there is a well-profiled sofa, individual climate control and a sufficient amount of free space on all fronts.
The trunk of an SUV from the Middle Kingdom is small - in normal condition it can only hold 355 liters of luggage. The back of the "gallery" is folded in several unequal sections, as a result of which the volume of the cargo compartment increases to 1500 liters. In the underground niche at the five-door there is a spare wheel and tools.
The Zotye SR9 is powered by a four-cylinder Mitsubishi 4G63 gasoline engine with a working volume of 2.0 liters (1997 cubic centimeters) with an in-line layout, distributed fuel injection, a turbocharger, 16-valve timing and variable valve timing, developing 190 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 250 N · M of torque at 2400-4800 rpm.
As standard, the crossover is equipped with a 5-speed "mechanics" and front-wheel drive transmission, and on request - a 6-band preselective "robot" with a double clutch.
But how much this car is dynamic and economical "in numbers" - the Chinese have not yet reported.
At the heart of the Zotye SR9 is a front-wheel drive "bogie" with a transversely oriented unit, and the power structure of its body for a large part consists of high-strength steel.
On both axles of the SUV, independent suspensions with hydraulic shock absorbers and anti-roll bars are used: in the front - of the McPherson type, in the rear - a multi-link system. The machine is equipped with rack and pinion steering with hydraulic booster, as well as disc brakes "in a circle" (ventilated on the front wheels) with ABS, EBD and other assistants.
In the Celestial Empire, the Zotye SR9, in the basic configuration, is sold at a price of 108,800 yuan (~ 971 thousand rubles at the exchange rate at the beginning of 2018). It is worth noting that in the foreseeable future, the five-door can reach the Russian market.
