In 2013, at the New York Auto Show, the Ingolstadt-based company presented the new compact sedan of the premium segment, the Audi A3. With their model, the Germans got right to the point - after all, in many countries, including Russia and the United States, a sedan body is preferred to a hatchback.
In April 2016, along with the rest of the "troikas", the car received a portion of updates, which affected not only the design and the list of options, but also significantly affected the technical part.
German designers were able to harmoniously complement the five-door hatchback with a section of a separate trunk. Despite the external compactness, the Audi A3 sedan is beautiful and well-cut. If the front side of the car almost exactly repeats the hatchbacks, then from other angles the differences are significant.
In profile, the three-volume "troika" looks swift and dynamic, which is facilitated by a long hood, a low sloping roof, a spectacular spoiler on the trunk lid and embossed wheel arches that can accommodate wheel rims up to 19 inches in diameter.
The rear of the car looks energetic thanks to the embossed bumper and elegantly tapered headlights with LED component.
The Audi A3 sedan is larger than the Sportback of the same name, except for the height - the three-volume model is 10 mm (1416 mm) lower. At the same time, the A3 Sedan is 145 mm (4458 mm) longer, 11 mm (1796 mm) wider, and its wheelbase is 1 mm longer (2637 mm).
The interior of the Audi A3 sedan exactly copies and repeats the interior design of the soplatform five-door hatchback. This means that it is characterized by comfortable seats, premium materials, ergonomics thought out to the smallest detail and not too rich basic equipment.
The front row is friendly for the driver and passenger, there is enough space in all directions, and the wide adjustment ranges allow you to choose the optimal comfortable seating.
The rear sofa is especially comfortable for two riders, but it can also accommodate three, although the high transmission tunnel can cause some inconvenience to the person sitting in the middle.
One of the advantages of the Audi A3 sedan is its practicality. The luggage compartment volume is 425 liters in standard condition, and you can simply forget about the wheel arches and lid hinges - they do not eat up space. Moreover, the compartment has an absolutely correct shape, the back of the rear sofa folds flush with the floor, forming 880 liters of usable volume. Only a small stowage is hidden under the raised floor.
Specifications. The four-door "three" is equipped with the same engines as the "Sportback" - these are gasoline "four" TFSI turbocharged, direct injection and 16-valve timing.
- By default, a 1.4-liter engine is hidden under the hood of the car, generating 150 "horses" at 5000-6000 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1500-3500 rpm.
- More productive versions are equipped with a 2.0-liter unit with a capacity of 190 mares (at 4200-6000 rpm), which develops 320 Nm of peak torque at 1500-4200 rpm.
Both engines are installed in conjunction with a 7-band "robot" S tronic and front-wheel drive transmission, but for the "younger" is also offered a 6-speed "mechanics", and for the "senior" - proprietary quattro all-wheel drive.
From a standstill to 100 km / h, the sedan is able to accelerate in 6.2-8.2 seconds, maximum 220-236 km / h obey it, and the "appetite" at the same time fits into 4.6-5.7 liters in a combined cycle.
Structurally, the Audi A3 Sedan does not differ from the soplatform hatchbacks - a modular MQB bogie with MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link rear, electromechanical power steering and disc brakes with modern electronics on all wheels.
Options and prices. In Russia, the restyled Audi A3 2016-2017 model year in the body of a sedan is exhibited on the shelves of dealerships at a price of 1,639,000 rubles for the standard equipment. A car with a 190-horsepower engine is estimated at 1 840 000 rubles, and with an all-wheel drive - from 1 924 000 rubles.
In the "base" three-volume relies on six airbags, air conditioning, "music", a multimedia complex, heated front seats, ABS, ESP, four power windows, alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and other useful functionality.
