The "second incarnation" of Lada Tarzan (VAZ-211290 / VAZ-211190), designed by the AvtoVAZ scientific and technical center in conjunction with the Decon design studio, was born in 1999 - its main difference from the original model was the transition to the body " decimal "family.

The car was manufactured until 2006, and exclusively to order, and during this time it sold only a few hundred units.

Lada Tarzan 2 is an off-road vehicle of a compact category, found in two body solutions: a five-door hatchback or a station wagon.

The length of the machine is 4255 mm, the width reaches 1710 mm, and the height is 1610 mm. The length of the wheelbase and the value of the ground clearance are 2585 mm and 200 mm, respectively, and the "combat" weight does not exceed 1230 kg.

Specifications. For "Tarzan" of the second generation, two gasoline engines are available - these are four-cylinder "aspirated" with a volume of 1.7-1.8 liters in-line configuration, distributed fuel supply and an 8-valve timing belt of the SOHC type, producing 80-85 horsepower and 128-238 Nm of torque.
They are docked with a five-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive transmission, "flaunting" a center differential lock and a "razdatka".

In running disciplines, the five-door demonstrates itself quite well: from a place to 100 km / h, it “breaks down” after 17 seconds, is extremely capable of developing 157-160 km / h and “drinks” 10.2-10.3 liters of fuel in a combined cycle for every “hundred” ".

The base for the Lada Tarzan 2 is a frame welded from steel profiles, the "ten" body on which is mounted by means of rubber cushions.

Both the front and rear of the car are equipped with independent suspensions (in both cases, the front axle is installed, but in the second, it is rotated 180 degrees) of the McPherson type with hydraulic shock absorbers, coil springs and anti-roll bars.

Disc brakes are installed on two axles of the off-road vehicle, and its rack-and-pinion steering gear, on some modifications, is supplemented with a hydraulic control amplifier.

Among the advantages of "Tarzan" of the second generation, the owners most often distinguish: a peculiar appearance, good off-road potential, reliable design, low cost of maintenance, comfortable suspension and exclusivity on the roads of Russia.
But the car also lacks its drawbacks: a high center of gravity, high laboriousness of repairs due to the use of the frame, transmission vibrations and noises, weak engines and a decent fuel "appetite".
